Opportunity Details

Farming Day at Working Theory Farm (age 13+) *Impact Week*

At Working Theory Farm our mission is to empower youth through the shared work of farming to grow food for partner organizations who distribute this food to families in need.

Through growing vegetables and raising livestock on our organic farm, we provide alternative education and avenues of employment to youth who have barriers to thriving within traditional systems and teach personal responsibility, social responsibility, and professional skills.

Volunteers will help us move short greenhouse tunnels, plant and/or process garlic, prepare beds for winter planting, and dig out blackberries. You will also get the opportunity to learn about how our non-profit, no-till, organic farm operates and how this coincides with our youth employment program.

The work is entirely outdoors, on the farm. Please wear shoes/boots & clothes you feel comfortable getting dirty. Rain gear may be needed - if so, we recommend a rain jacket and rain pants. We also have boots, some rain gear, and plenty of gloves available to borrow. Ground is a bit uneven and most likely muddy.

Limited parking available on sight immediately to the left & straight ahead when you enter through the main entrance. Street parking also available. Accessible by TriMet MAX & Bus #57. Bike parking also available on sight.
