Organization Profile

Portland Community Gardens Program has provided gardening opportunities for the physical and social benefit of the people and neighborhoods of Portland since 1974. There are over 50 community gardens located throughout the city, developed and operated by volunteers and Parks staff, offering a variety of activities. Over 1,200 plots are currently rented by City of Portland residents and approximately 3,000 people work on those plots. Our Produce for People Program donates over 15,000 pounds of produce from community gardens to local neighborhood food pantries annually. Volunteer activities include helping build and construct new gardens as well as maintaining and enhancing existing sites.
