Village Gardens -- Janus Youth Programs
http://www.villagegardens.orgVillage Gardens is based in North Portland affordable housing neighborhoods and builds neighborhood resilience through leadership development, employment opportunities, and a community-based food equity model. To date, the work of Village Gardens includes: the only non-profit grocery store in the city that provides a discount on heathy food choices for low-income households; community programs comprising of free community gardens, a community orchard and an egg program, and Food Works farm - which employs low-income youth through urban agriculture and tiered leadership opportunities. Village Gardens works in partnership with community leaders to create opportunities for advancing equity in a community disproportionately impacted by poverty and hunger.
