Serve Together: MLK Day of Service with L'Arche Portland (all ages) Referral

L'Arche Portland's mission is to create home and build community for people with and without intellectual disabilities, where they can share life together. We foster mutual relationships, celebrate each person's unique value, and work toward a more inclusive world.

This January 20th, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite you to join L’Arche Portland in a Day of Service dedicated to fostering love and inclusion for people with disabilities. Dr. King said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” In the spirit of his legacy, we have an opportunity to answer that question together, creating a community where everyone belongs, regardless of ability.

This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity, open to all ages and abilities. We’ll have both indoor and outdoor options, including yard maintenance, indoor painting of core member’s rooms, window washing, organizing, house projects, and spending time with core members. Whether you’re working on a project or simply being present with our community, your time and compassion help build a more inclusive, loving world.

Join us in honoring Dr. King’s vision by supporting individuals with disabilities in our community, lifting each other up, and strengthening the bonds that make us all stronger together.

This MLK Day, let’s make kindness and service our legacy.

We have two different houses: Neahkahnie House on the Westside of Portland and Gabriel House in Beaverton. Both houses will have projects available, and we’d love your help at either - whichever is preferred for you! Our Westside house will have more painting needed, so if that is calling to you please join us at Neahkahnie.
