No Ivy Day 2024: Washington Park Volunteer Event (age 10+) *Hands On*
Portland Parks & Recreation's - Natural Area Stewardship program works with volunteers of all ages to help enhance and restore Portland Parks natural areas, to provide habitat to wildlife and insects, and provide safe trails to park visitors.
Washington Park is one of the oldest parks in Portland. We will be removing weedy growing English ivy along the service road and MAC trail, situated between the Rose Garden and the soon to be completed reservoir. This area of the park sees a lot of foot traffic, especially locals walking dogs and runners (the MAC trail connects Multnomah athletic club to the wildwood trail). We will be working on uneven ground, some areas are steep. Dress for the weather, closed toed shoes and long pants required. Bring your favorite gloves and pruners if you have them, we will provide them if you don't. Bring snacks and water, bathrooms are available a short walk from the work site.
After the work party, join us to celebrate. There will be an after party at Forest Park or Mount Tabor Park from 12-1:30 including lunch and raffle prizes. For more information about celebrations, please contact Monica Hescheles monica.hescheles@portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-8367.
Accessibility: This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces. A portable restroom will be available at this site.
Getting Ready for the Event:
Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.
• Registration is required for all stewardship events.
• All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided
• Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
• In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
• While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work.

Volunteers must be 10 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 14 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.
