Opportunity Details

Kitchen Takeover and Bake Off (age 25+) *Impact Week*

p:ear builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth, ages 15-23, through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. Each year our programs serve more than 500 homeless and transitional young people. p:ear staff and volunteers serve as mentors, friends, and role models, while p:ear's unique programs create opportunities for young people to grow intellectually, express themselves constructively, communicate in positive ways and engage in meaningful interactions with the larger community of Portland.

Volunteers will create a menu and prepare it onsite in our commercial grade kitchen to feed our community of houseless youth. They all come with big appetites and a diversity in dietary restrictions and cultures and we try to reflect that in the meals we prepare in the space. Other volunteers will prepare baked treats to share with the population either on site or from home to be brought in on the day of the take over.

Wear kitchen appropriate clothing. Avoid open toe shoes, shirts with loose sleeves or clothes with a lot of draping cloth that might catch in things. Long hair should be tied up.
