IRCO's mission is to welcome, serve, and empower refugees, immigrants and people across cultures and generations to reach their full potential. Our vision is future where all refugees and immigrants belong, our staff are nurtured, and all communities thrive.
The New Beginnings Market is IRCO’s pilot project initiated in response to an unprecedented need to support the resettlement effort for incoming Afghan and Ukrainian refugees and parolees by supplying household items, furniture, hygiene kits, and more in the Portland Metro region.
The primary goal of the Market is to provide items that meet the unique needs of IRCO’s clients in an empowering “shop-like” setting as part of our culturally responsive wraparound service model.
We welcome corporate and organization groups of 5 to 15 people to come together to help us ready the market for newcomers. For this opportunity volunteers will be expected to:
• Sort, fold, and hang clothing inventory
• Sort and organize furniture and household items
• Sort and organize personal care items
• Process and track new inventory
• Prepare welcome kits
• Help tidy the warehouse
Work will be done indoors. Close-toed shoes are required. Please bring your own water bottle.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to attend this project

Team Captains are only able to reserve up to 50% of the spots on any individual Community Impact Week Service Project. Team Captains are required to provide names and email addresses for each team member (over the age of 13) in order to hold spaces on a volunteer project or they may be removed from the project.
