Forest Park Natural Area Stewardship Event (age 6+) *Impact Week*
Join Portland Parks and Recreation to remove ground ivy in Forest Park to clear an area to plant native plants later in the winter. This is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature. Tools, gloves, water, and project instructions provided.
Volunteers will be working off trail on uneven ground.
Participants should wear long pants, bring long sleeves and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, and appropriate gear for the weather. Please also bring a personal water bottle. We will provide training, tools, gloves, extra water and some coffee/tea and snacks. If you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19, please stay home.
There is plenty of parking along the NW Savier and NW Aspen intersection, which is a quick walk to the trailhead. Please do not park on Holman Lane and be sure not to block any neighbors driveways. We will meet past the gate by the portable restroom and meadow. The 15 Bus drops off at NW Vaughn and 27th, which is a 20 minute walk to the trailhead. Bikers are able to lock their bikes at the trailhead as long as the bikes do not obstruct the gate or the walk through on the sides of the gate.
Portland Parks & Recreation Natural Areas Stewardship program works with volunteers of all ages to improve, enhance, and restore parks and natural areas.
