Harvest Day at Kindness Farm! (age 4+) *Impact Week*

Kindness Farm is a first-generation immigrant, refugee, & queer led 501c3 nonprofit farm in SE Portland. We cultivate equitable access to healthy produce, provide education on growing food, care for land using regenerative agriculture, and foster vibrant community.

At the farm we...
-Focus on working with demographic groups who have been historically overlooked in getting the resources they need.

-Teach fellow humans how to grow food using regenerative methods that nourish all of us, and the Earth, and create a hopeful future.

-Donate all the produce we grow to hungry humans who can't afford to buy food, let alone healthy, nutritious produce.

-Create a safe, vibrant healing space for community (that includes you!) to build, grow, and flourish.

Join us as we harvest produce to donate to one of our partners, Our Streets PDX! We will start of with a stretch circle and introduction to the farm and then go into harvesting produce throughout the farm!

There's lots to do at the farm! If we finish harvesting early some frequent tasks we work on are...
-Creating our food forest
-Removing "invasive" weeds
-Creating pathways and planting areas
-Building wood-berms for planting
-Cardboarding and woodchipping
-Planting
-Seeding

What should you bring?
• Water!
• Weather / outdoor appropriate, warm, comfortable clothing and shoes you don't mind getting dirty. In the rainy season, the farm can be muddy, and sometimes it might also rain, so come prepared! Layers are great!
• We recommend closed-toed shoes and long sleeve shirts.
• Gardening gloves (though we have plenty at the farm if you don't have any!)
• Knee pads for kneeling if needed (we have a few of these at the farm as well!)
• A snack if you'd like!

Community Impact Week, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, powered by Hands On Greater Portland

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 5 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. In the spirit of creating an atmosphere where people from all parts of our community are coming together to volunteer,

Team Captains are only able to reserve up to 50% of the spots on any individual Community Impact Week Service Project. Team Captains are required to provide names and email addresses for each team member (over the age of 13) in order to hold spaces on a volunteer project or they may be removed from the project.
