Opportunity Details

King City Park Tree Planting (age 6+) *MLK 2015*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Help celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with us! Join Friends of Trees to plant native trees and shrubs in the King City Community Park this MLK Weekend. No experience is necessary!

Friends of Trees and Clean Water Services are continuing our efforts to enhance wetland vegetation in King City Park, which is adjacent to the Tualatin River.

Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. The planting will start promptly at 9:00am. We'll provide gloves, tools, skilled guidance - as well as free coffee and breakfast treats. All we ask is that you dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.

This is a great project for families! Kids from age 6 and older are welcome to join in the fun if accompanied by an adult.

About Friends of Trees:

Friends of Trees is a nonprofit that brings people in the Portland-Vancouver area together to plant trees along city streets and in urban natural areas. Since 1989, our thousands of volunteers have planted more than 500,000 trees and native plants in the Portland-Vancouver area. According to a recent city of Portland study, Portland's trees intercept 25 million pounds of air pollutants and keep half a billion gallons of stormwater from polluting our rivers every year.
