*ARCHIVE Restore Habitat & Maintain Trails at Powell Butte (age 14+) *Hands On*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join PP&R, Friends of Powell Butte and other community volunteers in completing important restoration projects on Powell Butte. Projects include trail work, ivy and other invasive species removal, fence work and possibly planting, mulching or watering native plants. No experience necessary! Wear sturdy shoes (or rubber boots/waders), long pants and shirts, and bring rain and/or sun gear, a hat and water bottle. Instruction, tools, gloves, and small treats will be provided.

Volunteers must be at least age 14 (without adult supervision) and volunteers under age 18 must have a parent or guardian sign our liability form.

Saturday, October 14th: 
Meeting location: Visitor’s Center at Main Parking Lot
Project: Trail work: raking, drainage

Meet at: Visitor’s Center and Main Parking Lot. From Powell Blvd., turn south (towards the Butte) onto SE 162nd and follow through the gate to the top of the hill. Volunteers will be walking up to 5 miles during the event, so arrive before 9:00 AM to make sure you meet up with the group.

Tri-met bus: #9 (SE 162nd & Powell Blvd. stop) Walk ½ mile uphill (elevation gain ~300 feet) to the Visitor’s Center and Main Parking Lot.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to attend this project; Volunteers age 14-17 may attend without an adult, if a youth volunteer release form is presented that has been signed by a parent or guardian.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed.
