Make Meals for Homeless Youth (age 18+) Referral
p:ear builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth, ages 15-23, through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. Each year our programs serve more than 500 homeless and transitional young people. p:ear staff and volunteers serve as mentors, friends, and role models, while p:ear's unique programs create opportunities for young people to grow intellectually, express themselves constructively, communicate in positive ways and engage in meaningful interactions with the larger community of Portland.
We are seeking help in helping prepare meals for homeless youth who access our space during our open community hours. All meals will be planned out with ingredients purchased by p:ear staff. Volunteers will help make and store for staff to reheat during open hours.
Volunteers will gain knowledge in working with homeless youth, as well as hopefully gain culinary skills for large groups, and the work that p:ear offers to the youth we serve.
All shifts are 3 hours in length on the 3rd Monday of each month from 11am - 2pm
