New Beginnings Market Organizing Assistance (age 16+)*Impact Week 2022*

IRCO's mission is to promote the integration of refugees, immigrants and the community at large into a self-sufficient, healthy and inclusive multi-ethnic society. Oregon has one of the fastest growing refugee and immigrant populations in the country. IRCO supports immigrants, refugees and mainstream community members to become self-sufficient through extensive programming, outreach and education in our 75+ cultural programs. With the help of our generous volunteers, our programs help to serve the most underrepresented communities in the state. Since 2020, our Volunteers have donated almost 30,000 cumulative hours and we are so thankful for each one of them.
Volunteers will receive a brief orientation/training on how to help organize and sort donation items housed at IRCO`s New Beginnings Market. This market is a community space where community members can come to shop for their needs. There are items spanning from clothing and toiletries to furniture. The IRCO Fundraising team has recently moved in-kind donations into the New Beginnings Market and is in the process of organizing the space. We need volunteers to make this market as soon as available for the community members.
Please consider volunteers will be moving and organizing items in a large warehouse space. Close-toed shoes are recommended. Please bring water - snacks should be provided. Masks are optional, but please feel free to wear one.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. To add or remove team members from a project, click on "My Account" and then "My Teams," above.
