Opportunity Details

Sort our Donations & Pantry! (age 14+) *MLK Weekend 2020*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

If you have retail experience or a keen eye for detail and organizational flow, you will be enthusiastic to get your hands in the mix!

Join us at Esther's Pantry and Tod's Corner. Our pantry provides over 10,000 pounds of food to the community weekly! We will unload and stock food, sort donations and ensure shelves and racks are stocked with clothing that accommodates all shapes and sizes of folks. Tod's Corner features a number of small spaces that offer clothing, winter coats and jackets, dishes ad household goods, linens, baby clothing and goods, and general household items.

Esther's Pantry and Tod's Corner both support Our House. Our House provides integrated health and housing services to people with HIV/AIDS. Guided by compassion, collaboration, and respect, we provide 24-hour specialized care, supportive services, and independent housing with support services. Volunteers engaging in this opportunity are directly serving our mission by ensuring all donations are managed, stocked and shared with our clients when they arrive to Esther's Pantry and Tod's Corner. These spaces are primarily staffed via volunteers. Volunteers may engage in sorting and stocking donations, deep cleaning our facility, and connecting with clients - all of which enable us to serve clients and their families to attain independent living.

If you engage in this opportunity to complete court-ordered service, please email Dev Burgoyne (dburgoyne@ourhouseofportland.org) to ensure they can report accurately on hours served.
