Summer Soccer with 4WU (age 10+) *Stand Together Week*

Join the team from 4 World's United Soccer Alliance as they celebrate the 2018 Portland Timbers' Stand Together Week by playing soccer in the park with kids from all over the world! The players are between the ages of 6 and 18 and represent all levels of play. If you enjoy modeling good sportsmanship to young people, this is the perfect project for you!

Please be prepared to participate in actvities that require running and moving around. Wear appropriate shoes / clothing.

About 4 Worlds United:

4 Worlds United Soccer Alliance provides access to soccer experiences of all levels for refugee and recently arrived immigrant youth players. Summer Soccer provides an inclusive, informal environment for players to get into the game without a lot of structure or pressure. 4WU meets players at Summer Soccer who are interested in training and playing the game at more organized levels and connects those players to local partner clubs to get them into the competitive game. 4WU then provides material and logistical support to those players all year long to make sure they get to stay in the game. 4WU also provides access to the Portland Timbers and Thorns by participating in Tix for Kids and organizing game day events for the players and members of their communities. In this way we are able to help them get to and experience the "big game" and get to know the players here in their new home town.

Note: Volunteers must be age 16+ to volunteer on this project.

Stand Together Week is the Portland Timbers, Thorns FC, and T2 citywide volunteer initiative that brings the community together to support local nonprofit organizations. The week engages hundreds of supporters, including Timbers, Thorns FC, & T2 players, coaches, ambassadors and front office staff who work with various non-profits in the community. Since 2012, Stand Together Week participants have donated 15,371 hours of service at over 193 projects focused on benefitting youth and the environment.
