SnowCap Community Garden Clean-up! (age 0+) *MLK Weekend 2018*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

About:
SnowCap is a philanthropic organization, dedicated to providing food, clothing, advocacy and other services to the poor in East Multnomah County. Helping us clean and prepare our community garden, will allow our clients access to growing their own fruits and vegetables.

Project Description:
Help us clean up our Community Garden to get it ready for the new growing season. This includes weeding, removal of yard/garden debris and any trash, and pruning or cutting back certain plants and bushes.

As a volunteer on this project, you will learn about SnowCap's community garden, how it positively affects our neighbors in East Multnomah County, as well as gardening basics.

Important Info:
This is a Community Garden Clean-up project, so volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty, and possibly wet, if rain is in the forecast. Volunteers should also bring their own work gloves, bottled water, and if they have a special yard tool (shovel, rake, clippers, etc.) they are welcome to bring it along. SnowCap has a small supply of work gloves and tools, but more are always welcome!

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers of all ages can attend this project; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.
  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.

  • ?Team Captains are only able to reserve up to 50% of the spots on any individual MLK Weekend of Service Project. Team Captains are required to provide names and email addresses for each team member (over the age of 13) in order to hold spaces on a volunteer project or they may be removed from the project. Questions? Email teams@handsonportland.org

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed.
