YWCA Shelter Cleanup Workout (age 18+) *MLK Weekend*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

YWCA Clark County’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. YWCA Clark County serves more than 11,000 people each year who are victims of domestic violence, homelessness, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, and oppression, as well as youth in foster care and women who are incarcerated. Our programs provide the tools and support to build self-esteem, foster positive life choices, and change lives. YWCA celebrates diversity, respects differences, and recognizes the dignity of each individual. We cooperate as a team to achieve a shared vision, believe and live our mission, and serve as leaders in providing quality and innovative service in a caring, compassionate environment.

Project Description
Volunteers will help spruce up YWCA SafeChoice domestic violence shelter. Our shelter provides emergency shelter to over 100 adults and children each year and each room is well used. We will be doing a deep cleaning of our communal areas in the shelter. Volunteers will have a variety of tasks that will all help these areas shine and feel welcoming to shelter participants, including families.

What to wear: closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dirty, marked, etc.

**Address will be sent via email once all applicants are registered and sign confidentiality policy.

By volunteering with the YWCA SafeChoice shelter, you will impact our mission with your service by helping foster and maintain living areas that uphold the dignity and self-worth of all those who seek emergency shelter.
