Description:
Join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Greater Portland volunteer leader. No advance training or ongoing commitment required, so sign up and participate in a project that fits your schedule. Need help signing up? Call 503-200-3355.
HomePlate is a weekly meal program serving young people who are unstably housed in Washington County.
We offer them a hot meal, a shower, a movie, games, conversation, and other resources.
VOLUNTEERS WILL NEED TO BRING A FOOD ITEM, though no volunteer will be turned away. If this is a hardship for you, please let the volunteer leader know. The Volunteer Leader will contact you to tell you what to bring. Supplying dinner is our biggest need. The meal will serve about 35 people, which includes your group and other volunteers. Together, volunteers will prepare a main dish, vegetable, 1 gallon of milk, and 1 gallon of juice. Dessert, bread, and salads are welcome but optional.
We are looking for people who enjoy hanging out with young people, providing a listening ear, and offering positive role-modeling.
Please note, this project is only open to those ages 18 and over.
