Description:
Reclaim a forest and help recreate recreation along the I-5 cooridor. Join forces with Baldock Rest Area Managers to beautify a glorious grove of Douglas Firs in one of Oregon's most pristine set of rest areas. We need dedicated volunteers who enjoy working in the outdoors to complete the following tasks:
1. Invasive species removal along boundry fences. 2. Trail corridor preparation and contruction. 3.Trimming and pruning. 4. Horticultural planning and planting. You will need to bring the following items:
1) Sturdy pants (blue jeans) 2) Water 3) A small lunch, because a snack IS ON US. 4) Appropriate weather gear. Volunteers will use the following equipment that we will provide:
1) Hand loppers 2) Manual weed whackers 3) Shears 4) Shovels 5) Rakes 6) Hearing protection 7) Eye protection
On January 1st, the Baldock Rest Areas came under new manag ement by a semi-independent state agency known as the Oregon Travel Information Council. Our overiding mission is to enhance the rest areas for the travelling public and to make them safe, inviting, places for travelers to rest and recreate. We are also interested in providing local bussinesses a showcase that highlights destinations for economic growth through tourism for the communities that surround us.
All volunteers will sign volunteer waiver upon arrival.
