Ever imagine designing your own decorative flower bed?  Are you a Master Gardner with community hours requirments?

The Oregon Travel Information Council is looking for some dedicated individuals to help plan, design, and replant the many individual flower beds located throughout the Baldock Rest Areas. The hope is to get one individual or group of individuals to dedicate their efforts to one bed.  This we do not expect to be a one day job; rather, a longer-term project that considers the following:

1) Native communities.
2) Sustainability.
3) Lighting Considerations.
4) Colors and esthetics.

The Baldock Rest Areas are located just South of Wilsonville and occupy over 40 acres on both the South and North Bound side of the I-5 Interstate.  Along the roadways and around the buildings there are up to 15 different decorative beds that are in need of effective horticultural design, managment, and plantings.  Locations of the beds offer shaded and full sun.  All supplies will be provided.  

On January 1st, the Baldock Rest Areas came under new management by a semi-independent state agency known as the Oregon Travel Information Council.  Our overiding mission is to enhance the rest areas for the travelling public and to make them safe, inviting, places for travelers to rest and recreate.  We are also interested in providing local bussinesses a showcase that highlights destinations for economic growth through tourism for the communities that surround us.

Oregon Travel Information Council will offer a decorative plaque that recognizes each bed's designer.
