Description:
Help Kerr's growing Foster Care program by providing supervised child care with other staff and volunteers during weekly foster parent trainings.
Two shifts available: 10a.m. – 12p.m. or 7p.m. – 9p.m. Book clubs will meet twice per week for a 10-week series. Volunteers should commit to one meeting per week for the entire 10-week series.
Qualifications
• Experience with children ages 0 - 16
• Experience with children with special needs and/or behavioral/mental health issues preferred
• Demonstrate social skills effectively
• Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations
Training
• Volunteer Orientation
• One-on-one training with supervisor, including Emergency Preparedness
• On-going support and training as needed
Competencies
• Ability to accept direction and supervision.
• Ability to appreciate and function as part of a diverse work team.
• Demonstrates professional presentation in language and attire.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Kerr and department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates openness and willingness to learn new skills.
Responsibilities
• Help with child care during foster parent trainings.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information as required through HIPAA and agency policy.
• Attend meetings and required trainings as assigned with the ability to pass all required trainings within our agency.
• Follow safe work practices and all procedures to ensure your health and safety, as well as the health and safety of the people we serve and others.
• Work and communicate effectively with Team members (including peers, clients, and management) working towards our common mission.
• Interact with the people we serve in a way that promotes dignity and respect congruent with agency mission and values.
• Other duties as assigned and needed.
