| After school program volunteer at Rigler Elementary |
Agency: I Have A Dream Foundation-Oregon
Description:
Volunteer with 4th (almost 5th) grade Dreamers at Rigler Elementary!
“I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oregon needs help with our after school and summer programs at Rigler in NE Portland. Come assist kids with academic work and fun activities. Our after school programming typically runs Monday-Thursday between 2:15 and 5:15pm and includes both academic and enrichment sections. Our summer program begins very soon as well!
Past activities have included all different sorts of art projects, sports and games, making our own toys, creating computer garage band music, and other super-fun stuff. This semester the Dreamers will be performing community service to beautify school grounds, learning about space, publishing their own newspaper, as well as exploring their environment and making maps of their expeditions! Come join the activities or bring your own expertise to the mix. We invite you to share your talents, hobbies, and know-how with the Dreamers! And of course, we always want to connect with volunteers that enjoy working with kids on math, reading, writing, and other subjects.
We’re looking for dedicated adults who are willing to dive right in, who have an interest in working with young people, and who aren’t afraid of a little dirt, glitter, off-key singing, and/or papier-mâché. And hey, the Dreamers are going on fifth grade, so it’s about as rewarding as it can get!
To get more information about this opportunity, please contact our Volunteer Services Coordinator, Signe Bishop. Signe’s always happy to talk to potential volunteers, so let her know you're interested by clicking "Have Agency Contact Me" below. She’ll tell you all about what it takes to become a volunteer with “I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oregon!
