Support the Free Store for Teachers! (age 11+) *STW 2014*

Schoolhouse Supplies Operates a Free Store for Teachers!

We stock our shelves with new school supplies collected from businesses and individuals so teachers can stock their classroom for free. Teachers who shop at Schoolhouse Supplies find that we are just like any retail store, with shopping carts, bright displays and a variety of merchandise!

As a volunteer, you'll be helping us keep the Free Store for Teachers well supplied by working together to sort, tally and prepare donated school supplies for the store.

Schoolhouse Supplies is an award-winning nonprofit that supports public education in Portland by giving students and teachers free classroom supplies. We operate Oregon's only volunteer-run Free Store for Teachers, which is stocked with supplies donated by the community, the Tools for School backpack giveaway, and Schoolhouse Supplies Online programs.

Note: Volunteers age 11-16 may volunteer along with a responsible adult.
Volunteers age 17+ are welcome to volunteer on their own.

Project Requirements:

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Hands On Youth Waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.  (print it now, fill it out, and bring it with you to save time during project check in).

  • If you plan to bring children/additional volunteers you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. Questions? Email teams@handsonportland.org

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. To add or remove team members from a project: log in to your volunteer account and click "Manage My Team" next to the appropriate upcoming opportunity.
