Friends of Errol Heights Restoration Planting (age 3+) *MLK 2014*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Volunteers will be planting native plants, possibly removing some invasive species (depending on number of volunteers present).

Please wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts and sturdy shoes. Bring warm clothes, raingear, hat and water bottle.

Errol Heights park comprises 14.28 acres in Brentwood Darlington Neighborhood in Southeast Portland. The park’s boundary is irregular in shape and includes the dell and lowland property along with former home sites on the bluff. The Woodstock and Ardenwald/Johnson Creek Neighborhoods are also adjacent to the south and west of the park. It is the largest park in the immediate area, which consists mainly of a mixture of light commercial, industrial and residential uses.

Project Requirements:

  • You must be 3 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers are required to sign an MLK Volunteer Waiver (print it now, fill it out, and bring it with you to save time during project check in). Volunteers under 18 are required to bring a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.

  • If you plan to bring children/additional volunteers you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. Questions? Email teams@handsonportland.org

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. To add or remove team members from a project: log in to your volunteer account and click "Manage My Team" next to the appropriate upcoming opportunity.

  • Click "Sign Up" below to reserve your spot! Need help signing up? Call 503-200-3355.
