HomePlate Meals with Youth (age 18+) *MLK 2014*
Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
**VOLUNTEERS WILL NEED TO BRING A FOOD ITEM. If this is a hardship for you, please let the Volunteer Leader know. The Volunteer Leader will contact you to tell you what to bring.
HomePlate is a weekly meal program serving young people who are unstably housed in Washington County. We offer them a hot meal, a shower, a movie, games, conversation, and other resources: employment, housing, education assistance.
Supplying dinner is our biggest need. The meal will serve about 40 people, which includes your group and other volunteers. Together, volunteers will prepare a main dish, salad, fruit/vegetable, 1 gallon of milk, and 1 gallon of juice. Dessert and bread are welcome but optional.
We are looking for people who enjoy hanging out with young people, providing a listening ear, and offering positive role-modeling.
