Opportunity Details

Beaverton's Giving Gardens (age 10+) *CCD 2012*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

What do you call someone with a golden thumb??
...a Beaverton Giving Gardens volunteer!

Join our group of fun, family-friendly garden volunteers - thumbs of all colors welcome (aka, no gardening experience required!)

If you'd like to work outside, get a little sun, and help families in need by growing organic vegetables, then we would love to have you come out and volunteer with us at the City of Beaverton's Giving Gardens. All the food grown will be donated to Tualatin Valley Gleaners, Sunshine Pantry and St. Matthews Food Pantry.

We will be laying down paths, raking, planting vegetables and flowers, weeding and harvesting. Please bring some gloves and drinking water.

Note: the garden does not have bathroom facilities, but volunteers are able to use the facilities at retail stores located near by. Also, Saturday shifts are located at the Kennedy Community Gardens (corner of 103rd/Kennedy Street, behind Target). The 3-hour shift is from 10am-1pm, but you will be able to leave earlier, if you need to (you will get credit for the hours that you did volunteer).

This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity, so please feel free to bring the kids along for some great family fun!

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 10 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 13 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • If you plan to bring your children or other guests to the event, you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team. You can then sign up your team for this project.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project: Youth Volunteer Release Form
