Steps to getting involved:
Step 1 -
First Contact! Fill out the Civic Leaders
Interest Form and email it to
brenden@handsonportland.org.
Step 2 -
Explore! We will meet with you
either one-on-one or in a group of other leaders to
explore your interests and assess your skills and
assets.
Step 3 -
Making the Match! We will work with
you to find Boards or Commissions that fit with your areas of
interest. Once we have identified the right
organizations, we will facilitate the introduction.
Step 4 - Check
In! The final step of our involvement
would be to follow up with you in order to assess
your satisfaction with the match and provide any
support you might need.
Why
join a Board or Commission
Civic
leadership provides many benefits to Leaders, in
addition to the satisfaction of knowing that you are
working to enhance our community. Leaders gain
opportunities to network with peers, build personal
and professional connections and gain leadership
experience. In addition, as part of Civic
Leaders, Leaders are able to take advantage of
resources designed to help you succeed as a Board
member.
What's
available?
Whatever
works for you. We are working now with nonprofit
Boards that focus on education, youth, health care,
child protective services, livability and
transportation. But this project will help you find
the opportunity that is right for you, whatever that
opportunity might be.
